A loosely painted bust-length portrait depicting Jessie Heckman Hirschl in profile, facing the viewer’s left. Her brown hair is arranged on top of her head. She is wearing a simple white-to-lilac colored garment with gold trim around the neck. The gold color widens in the back and is suggestive of a kimono. Areas of color and shadow on her face and neck are well defined. The background is dark with visible horizontal and vertical brush strokes. The uniform background is somewhat diminished in the lower left quadrant where more of a light/dark effect is evident.
