An artist sits at his work table in a spacious studio. He wears a light-colored shirt and table is draped with a dark cloth. The project that occupies him is light in color and spread across most of the table. The walls and floor are stone or cement. The ceiling is quite high and the dim room is lit from above. The left side of the painting has a few taller display tables. One table holds an upright figure that is taking a long stride. There is a large stone mass in the background that resembles an inverted pyramid. The lighting on the scene is dim and the contrast is low.
The relationship between Lasar and the Eagle’s Nest Art Colony is unknown, but this painting was part of the gallery’s opening show in July of 1918.
